Blues 5-0 De Montfort 1 (Nov 3rd)

When the opposition finally graced us with their presence and after an intense 15 minute warm up of walking football, they were good to start.

The first 5-10 minutes required some solid defending from the Blues brick wall of a defence, and Sonny. When we settled down and started to play our football we were able to open them up with ease, like they were Sonny’s or Sweeney’s shirts on a Wednesday night at Revs.

Finally, we got the breakthrough we deserved, after a lot of dodgy offside decisions the linesman finally kept his flag down and after a lovely passage of play that went from the LB to the RW linked by a lot of 1&2 touch passing, we broke their defence down and Tina slotted it home.

After some inspiring words from Ben and Blatchy at half time, we went out and very quickly added a 2nd goal scored by Cai (the angry ginger), after a brilliant run into space by Brody was found by a magnificent 60 yard sidewinder kick from the Cambridge Alisson, Tim Wallace. Then Lumi quickly added a 3rd goal. However, the highlight of the game for me was watching the Baller himself, find row Z from 6 yards out as the ball was set on a plate for him from a thoroughly practiced cutback from the byline (FINES!!!).

After a flurry of substitutes the pressure didn’t ease up. Sam Ernest stepping seamlessly into CB as he replaced Matt “Can you send me money?” Hawthorn. Paddy and Louie coming into midfield keeping the intensity high and creating even more chances. George Pugh coming on up front making the defenders heads spin as they tried to keep up with him and JP bringing the ever-present threat down the right wing. The 4th goal was an own goal, by the clearly confused CB who followed up a shot from the edge of the box tipped onto the post, calmly slotting home the rebound off the post from 6 yards (Matt Harris take notes). The goalscoring was rounded off by JP, driving in from wide before slotting home through the keeper’s legs, followed by a perfectly executed knee slide to celebrate that would put Drogba to shame.

After a game of heavily one way traffic it ended 5-0 and the Blues unbeaten run continues.
