Falcs 4-3 Coventry 3 (Oct 20th)

First league game of the season, Falcs vs Coventry IIIs, the volume in the changing room showed everyone was absolutely buzzing, this was only ever going one way.

The game started slowly, with both teams trying to work out the wind. Until Funto swung a corner right into the six-yard box, and beautiful hold-up by Ujjal about three yards from goal allowed Nick Sweeney (C), with trademark composure, to chip a delicate and weighted ball over the mess in front of him. 1-0. Easy. Despite conceding from a messy counter attack, nothing changed for the Falcs, with Lemuel, Matt and Ernest continuing to control the ball throughout the remainder of the first half, whilst Sam Hardy continued to out-class and out-strength his 6’5” marker.

Having been on the wrong side of the wind in the first half, JP wasted no time turning his man inside-and-out with terrifying frequency at the start of the second. Following one of these runs he found himself on the edge of the box, and found the bottom corner not soon after. 2-1. Funto, Ujjal and Sam continued to drag the Coventry defence around until JP did it again not soon after, an even better goal this time. 3-1. L

The game then turned on its head in the space of 2 minutes, with the gentle support of their delightful coach Coventry found two goals out of nowhere. But this was very much not in the script. 3 minutes to go. Rony continued to give their left winger absolutely nothing down our right until it eventually broke for Ernest, who sailed a characteristic clip right onto the feet of JP. Beating his man with his first touch, and leaving him on the floor with his second, he slotted it past the keeper. 4-3, the match ball and 3 points secured. Full-time. UTFF 🦅🦅
